Bless, Blessed, Blessings
Has anyone ever said, "bless you?" I often have people telling me to, "have a blessed day" at the end of an email, letter, or closure to their phone message. As parents of 6 daughters, my husband and I have been told many times of how "blessed" we are to have such a beautiful family. If you have ever helped another in need you may have heard, "Your are such a blessing to me! I don't know what I would have done without your help."
Any of these sound familiar?
What does all of this blessing stuff mean?
Bless, Blessed, Blessing--yes, it seems to many of us that these words are used frequently when communicating with others. What do they mean? When putting God in front of a blessing, an easy definition can be found in scripture from the Bible:
“The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
So when someone wishes me a blessing and uses God within the blessing, I believe they are asking God to look over me, extending his grace and peace in my life. If someone wishes me a blessing without mention of God, I believe that they are still wishing good things upon me. Do you agree?
Until Next Time
As you communicate with others in your journey through life, you may want to wish them a meaningful blessing from the heart--it's a good thing to give!
Share your blessings with others--sharing is caring!
